Acosta Sales & Marketing Enterprise Data Quality Analyst in Jacksonville, Florida
The MDM Data Quality Analyst works alongside our subject matter experts (SMEs) as well as our Data Stewards to analyze and profile our data, assess its quality, and help drive efforts to understand how to correct the data quality issues that prevent the data from being sharable across multiple contexts, consumed confidently in analytical systems, and integrated consistently across multiple downstream applications. This individual also works with our MDM Specialist to ensure that these issues get translated properly into data validation, data cleansing and data harmonization rules within the MDM platform.
Develop rules and process to control the quality (consistency, accuracy, completeness, timeliness, etc) of data within Acosta databases
Maintain business data glossary and document master data dictionaries and business requirements for key workflows and process points
Work with MDM Platform Specialists to implement data quality rules to validate, cleanse and harmonize data for use by data stakeholders and downstream systems.
Work with master data subject matter experts (SMEs), data stewards, and other key stakeholder to identify and assess data quality risks to leveraging and integrating master data in key operational and analytical business processes
Work with Data Profiling and Data Quality tools to gather statistical measurements of data, identify and analyze data defects in master data sources, and specify automated rules for correction where possible
Work with ETL and integration developers to ensure automate the movement and transformation of master data between key master data repositories
Analyze daily health of the master data platform operations. Identify and develop insight to reduce data quality issues and process gaps
Evaluate data and resolve data quality issues by analyzing gaps in process and source files. Help identify and develop insight to reduce data quality issues. Recommend process improvements & suggest alternatives for continuous enhancement of existing workflow
Investigate new data sources from both internal and third-party data providers, assess issues and communicate impact / root cause / resolution to stakeholders. Assist in setting policies for future data collection to support business decisions.
Manage the identification and implementation of Data Quality KPIs and metrics to ensure third party compliance to data requirements
Be responsible to the stakeholders for timely delivery & completion of assigned projects
Keep current with and train organization on data quality best practices. Inform and guide stakeholders regarding data availability, caveats and limitations to business units
Manage business priorities while driving process improvements and data quality enhancements
Support internal teams by providing ongoing & ad-hoc data concierge services and conducting effective research via web / subscribed research sites and present timely information as required
Demonstrate proficiency with the principles and methodologies of process improvement and apply these in the execution of responsibilities in support of a process focused approach.
Assist with capturing requirements for master data management and data cleansing projects.
Perform other duties as necessary or assigned
Bachelor's degree in Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, CIS or related field, or equivalent work experience.
5 years of experience working in a Data Quality Analyst or Data Analyst role in the Retail and/or CPG Industry
Very proficient in SQL, and variants (e.g. in different platforms).
Good understanding of, and ability to utilize, technical metadata present in database platforms.
Can effectively manipulate and analyze large amounts of data.
Ability to read, understand and assess data models.
Familiarity with types of data quality issues and approaches to their resolution.
Experience with common data analyst support tools
Experience with data mapping (Source to Target entity and attribute mapping).
Excellent communication skills, presentation and interpersonal skills are required.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
Ability to think creatively, is highly-driven and self-motivated.
Ability to present complex information in a simplified fashion to facilitate understanding.
Can demonstrate creative problem-solving skills.
Proficient with MS Office products.
Experience using automated data profiling and quality tools, such as Ataccama, SAS (Data Flux), Informatica, Trillium, Experian, Pitney Bowes, Talend etc, is a definite plus
Experience with a third-party Master Data Management platform, such as Profisee, Ataccama MDM, Orchestra Networks
Experience with data modeling tools such as Erwin or ER/Studio
Experience with Data Catalog, Business Glossary and/or Metadata Repository tools is a plus
Understanding of common data services, especially ETL, backup, restore, role-based security.
Advanced knowledge of the principles of data quality management, including metadata, lineage, and business definitions, implements data quality improvement procedures and policies. Evaluate processes for gaps and inefficiencies and provide recommendations for improvement.
Advanced knowledge of master data management concepts, principles and processes.
Ability to statistically survey (profile) and analyze data by both automated and manual means.
Ability to identify, catalog and assess data quality defects and anomalies, recommend alternatives for resolving the issues, and formulate remediation plans for executing approved recommendations.
Knowledge of industry data standards in the retail or CPG Industry, such as GS1, GDSN, and/or ARTS.
Ability to communicate source data issues to business users and stakeholders in business terms, so that the implications and impact of these issues can be understood.
Ability to collaborate with business and technical users in the resolution of ongoing data quality issues, assisting the drive towards root cause solutions.
Ability to configure and automate data profiling tools to survey master data sets.
Ability review to read and understand conceptual, logical, and physical data models, and communicate effectively with data modelers regarding data integrity issues.
Ability to capture metrics about data environments, such as frequency of different types of data quality issues, and to report effectively on these to business and IT stakeholders.
Ability to conduct manual data quality analysis when no formal data quality tool is included in project
