Overview

Researches, analyzes, evaluates, and administers corporate benefit plans and programs. Manages the non-discrimination testing (NDT) as well as ensures compliance for all aspects of the retirement plan and deferred comp plan. Monitors benefit trends in the business environment and must stay abreast of applicable benefits legislation. Requires a bachelor's degree in a related area and at least 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, document and maintain benefit processes and procedures.

  • Monitor, analyze and recommend compliance actions for new and evolving benefit legislation.

  • From a technical aspect participate in implementation activities for Annual Enrollment, new benefit/wellness vendors, new benefit coverage, new carriers, etc.

  • Manage the NDT as well as ensure compliance for all aspects of the retirement plan and deferred comp plan.

  • Perform reconciliation on benefit plan deductions/contributions.

  • Performs administrative work involved in the benefit functions, and maintains related records.

  • Ensures that programs are carried out in accordance with company's policies and procedures.

  • Support annual financial and tax reporting (e.g., ACA reporting, PCORI fees, Transitional Reinsurance Fees, 5500 filing, etc.) by gathering all required data from various sources, completing questionnaires, facilitating on-site audits, etc.

  • Other miscellaneous duties assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in HR, Finance, Business, Statistics or related field

  • 5+ years of experience in benefits administration or in a related area.

  • HR or finance/accounting experience preferred.

  • Significant business and/or financial acumen.

  • Ability to effectively analyze and synthesize large amounts of complex data into relevant insights.

  • Project management experience preferred.

  • Strong problem -solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.

  • Knowledge of HR systems and processes.

  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

  • Performs a variety of complicated tasks.

  • Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.

  • Ability to connect tactical deliverables with enterprise objectives and strategy.

  • Ability to present data in a logical, concise manner.

  • High professional standards for customer service, confidentiality, and quality of work.

  • Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills to include the ability to create reports containing graphs, charts and other intermediate functions such as mail merges, V-lookups, pivot tables, etc.

  • Ability to identify issues, compare data, investigate and resolve discrepancies.

  • Ability to calculate, analyze and interpret mathematical information such as percent differences, ratios, median, mean, weighted average, etc.

  • Ability to establish project plans, regularly monitor and track progress on work projects and ensure appropriate communications with project partners.
